Welcome to Doing Life Deliberately!! DLD was born out of our faith in Jesus Christ! Both Joe and I came to a saving faith in Christ the summer of 1996. Long before we knew each other, God was working in our hearts, stirring up a desire to know the meaning of life. While working in separate theater troupes in different parts of the country, the Lord used his faithful followers to share their testimonies with us: explaining the problem of sin that plagues all of humanity, and the solution to sin- the sacrificial death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, who died in our place to pay for our sins. Both of our hearts were transformed and a mission was born- to go wherever the Lord said to go, and do whatever the Lord said to do.
Over the last two decades, God has set us on a grand adventure: marriage, parenting, church planting in Arizona and Wisconsin, international missions trips, homeschooling, downsizing to live full time in an RV, and roadschooling- seeing and experiencing things we once could only read about! And sometimes, the adventures are right under our noses- learning to fix a broken washing machine, hiking in the local state park, building a fort in the woods… Regardless of the location, we are eager to learn through experience, see God’s creation, meet new people, and try new things.
We are passionate about homeschooling. Why? Home education has allowed us to learn together, grow together and serve together. Homeschooling has given us the opportunity to pass on our faith, values and morals to our children. Learning at home has provided a natural setting for our kids to learn experientially, without the confines and limitations of a classroom. Our family has had the freedom to learn at our own pace, with a schedule and environment that works best for us.
Homeschooling is not the easy choice. It takes time, energy and investment. But we firmly believe the rewards far outweigh the challenges.
